Following recent tensions reported at the Namanga Border Post linked to civil unrest on the Tanzanian side, normalcy has since returned.
Efforts by our security teams on the ground to sensitize residents on the need to respect national boundaries and avoid interference in Tanzania’s internal affairs have yielded positive results. Kenyans heeded the advisory, preventing the situation from spilling over to the Kenyan side.
Trade and cross-border business operations have since resumed, with security personnel maintaining a heightened presence to ensure continued calm. Public sensitization and surveillance efforts remain ongoing to safeguard peace and stability along our border.
While operations have normalized, some delays in cargo clearance persist due to network interruptions on the Tanzanian side, but we are reliably informed that authorities are engaging their counterparts across the border to restore full functionality.
We continue to monitor the situation closely and assures the public of our commitment to protecting lives, property, and the sanctity of Kenya’s territorial sovereignty and cross-border relationship with our neighbors.
